Board Certification provides Florida consumers of legal services with a level of assurance that their selection of legal counsel has demonstrated ability and experience in his field of practice that earned him a reputation for professionalism within the legal community. Board Certification means that the attorney:
a. Is an active member in good standing of The Florida Bar.
b. Is a practicing attorney for a minimum of five (5) years.
c. Has passed a written examination in his specialty area.
d. Has completed certain approved educational programs.
e. Has demonstrated substantial experience in the specialty area.
f. Is favorably evaluated in the specialty field by judges and other lawyers.
g. Exhibits outstanding character, ethics, and reputation for professionalism.
Certifications are valid for five (5) years, and re-certification generally requires the same demonstration as initial certification.
